The term blue zone refers to locations throughout the world that appear to be longevity hotbeds. In other words, it is believed that there are certain locations where, on average, residents live longer. Current blue zones include: Sardinia, Italy; Okinawa, Japan; Loma Linda, California; Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica, and; Icaria, Greece.
