One of the world's leading employee benefit consulting companies, Hewitt, released results of a study indicating that 80 percent of Americans are expected to fall short of meeting their financial needs during retirement.

Hewitt estimates that the average U.S. employee will need approximately 15.1 times their final annual salary to have adequate retirement resources.

The study offers additional statistics and suggested remedies such as increasing savings and working longer.
