Sunamerica offers optional benefits that can be attached to any of their variable annuities.
In my opinion, these optional riders are what make the Sunamerica products interesting.
The Income Plus rider guarantees 6 percent on withdrawals starting as early as 45.
This rider will also credit the difference between the guaranteed 6 percent and any withdrawals that are made during a year. So if someone withdraws 3 percent, the rider would lock-in an income credit of 3 percent at the end of the year despite the 3 percent withdrawal.
This minimum income benefit is tough to match in the current environment.
