U.S. annuity industry leader MetLife reported strong earnings and provided an optimistic outlook for the remainder of 2010.
Metlife reported a 12 percent increase in revenue to $8.8 billion during the most recent quarter.
The revenue and earnings picture was aided by a 31 percent increase in investment income.
MetLife's U.S. annuity sales were $4.4 billion. This included an 8 percent increase in variable annuity sales relative to last year.
